Spray Painting Your Rifle Alot of people like to spray paint their rifle to help aid in camoflauging it, personally ive always just given my rifle a single colour coat and made a ghillie wrap to break up the shape, and allow natural vegiation to easily be added to it. How ever ive just wrote and took some photos of a quick and easy way to spray paint your rifle.
The first thing before we get the paint out is to STRIP down your rifle, you do NOT want any of your internal parts still inside. Before i paint my rifle i always: - Remove trigger mech
- Remove Bolt Assembly
- Remove hopunit and inner barrel
- Remove foam from Silencer
So once you've done that next is to decide if your going to spray with everything put together or seperate, personally i have my stock and receiver/barrel with scope together but did my silencer, cheek peice and butler creek flip-up cap seperate, this is personal preference and nothing stopping you from doing everything together or seperatly. Youll need some masking tape to cover the scope dials and to cover the lenses - take EXTRA care on making sure your lenses are covered getting paint on your lenses is not a good idea, will take a stanley knife, lots of time and possibly some white spirit if your lucky, so dont take this risk get them covered. Next comes paint, Personally I use Krylon. you can use other paints such as Tamiya but the quality isnt a good and the finish doesnt look as nice I think, Plus theres something about the smell of Krylon I really like. There was a dry patch in the UK at one point with Krylon but it seems to be back with their Krylon Fusion tins, £6.50 a can its not that cheap but theres enough paint in there to do a couple of rifles / or keep your current rifle touched up for a while.
Right so now we have our rifle prepped and ready to be painted i start with a light colour, with this i started with my Tan colour, general rule of thumb is work with lightest colour first and get darker, how ever Krylon is pretty damn good in the sense that you can paint some thing dark with a lighter colour very easily. Once i'd given it a light dusting with TAN colour I then proceed to give it a dusting with Olive Drab, with some slightly more concentrated areas. Next up is plants and foilage that you get in your game zone, this can some out a bit blotchy if the foilage is quite dense, so might be worth picking a few leafs off or every other leaf to help allow paint to between leafs / branches.

Next up was my silencer, for an easy way to get all the way around it without lying it down i stick it on a stick. The rifle after its paintjob.
So as you can see quite an easy way to give your rifle a basic spray paint, great if you want to take the "shine" away from it. Any questions post in the comments and ill be happy to answer.
